Note that your attack DEF levels get boosted by playing on certain difficulties (+2 on Easy, -1 on Hard, -3 on Extreme) and there is both an X-Jack and a passive effect to raise the DEF level. Yes - the Sword/Shield levels is the ATK/DEF of an art, if you get hit by an enemy attack during your own attack, if their attacks ATK level is higher than your DEF one, your attack will be cancelled - exactly the same as Overdose.
